Can I get travel insurance with medical conditions?
Some travel insurance providers will only cover you for treatment and claims that aren’t related to pre-existing medical conditions. But emergency treatment abroad can cost a small fortune.
If you have a health condition, you’ll need medical travel insurance including pre-existing conditions, so you’re properly protected. It’s the best way to make sure your policy is valid when you need to use it.
Over 97% of people can get cover with us. Add your medical condition(s) to our award-winning travel insurance, which includes COVID-19 cover*, luggage losses, cancellation cover and more.
That’s your passport to peace of mind.

What is a pre-existing medical condition for travel insurance?
A pre-existing medical condition for travel insurance is one where, over the past two years, you’ve had:
✔ Symptoms
✔ Treatment and/or medication
✔ Investigations and/or surgery
✔ Medical appointments
We also need to know if you’ve had a heart or circulation condition at any time.
To offer you a policy that reflects the cover you might need, you’ll be asked about your current health rather than just the name of your condition.
Our simple medical screening makes it easy - get a quote tailored to you within minutes.
What medical conditions can travel insurance cover?

How Staysure cover works in three easy steps
To get cover, you’ll need to declare all your pre-existing condition(s) to us when getting a quote for travel insurance. We make it easy to get a quote tailored to your trip and health.
See our FAQs for more on what’s covered and what you need to disclose.
1. Tell us about your trip
We’ll need a few quick details to get started:
- If you need cover for one trip or multiple trips
- Who the insurance is for
- Where you’re going and how long for
2. Let us know about your condition(s)
Our simple medical screening helps us understand you better and the care you could need abroad.
We’ll ask about pre-existing conditions, which is any health issue where in the last two years you’ve had:
- Appointments
- Symptoms
- Tests or investigations
- Treatments
- Hospitalisations
- Medication
We also need to know if you've ever had heart conditions or circulation problems.
3. Get your quote
If you complete the screening and we can cover you, your tailored quote will be available to view online, and emailed to you. It includes travel insurance tailored to cover your condition(s).
Explore and choose from three levels of cover to suit your needs (as below).
Choose optional add-ons to tailor your quote to your trip, including winter sports or cruise plus benefits.
